She was last seen at the residence of Ed Henline Sr. and his wife, Deborah. The couple lived on East Minnesota Avenue in McCloud at the time and Mero formerly lived at their home as well. Mero was not reported missing until October 1997, eight months after she disappeared. Another young woman, Hannah Zaccaglini, disappeared from the Henline's home on June 4, 1997. The couple was accused of writing fraudulent checks on Mero's bank account after she disappeared and remain suspects in her disappearance.
